Builders Clubs are “student-led” community service
organizations in Jr. High Schools sponsored by local Kiwanis
Clubs. Builders Clubs provide students with opportunities to
develop leadership, improve self-esteem, increase civic
engagement and learn life skills through service to the
community. As students maneuver this “in-between-stage”
of life, Builders Clubs empower them to be themselves, work
together with friends, and implement plans through action.
Through Builders Clubs, students become leaders at school,
in their community and in the world. Club members make an
impact by selecting projects that meet their communities’
needs.
The Kiwanis Club of the Colorado River sponsors two Builders Clubs, one at Bullhead City Jr. High School and another at Fox Creek Jr. High School. Both clubs are dedicated to contributing to the betterment of the community and in developing citizenship in their members.
These clubs have routinely performed more than 1500 combined hours of community service throughout the community, participating in service activities such as:
- City Wide Clean Up Projects
- Neighbors Helping Neighbors
- The Bullhead City River Regatta
- Fire Prevention Fair
- Hardyville Days
- Operation Cool Shade
- Salvation Army Bell Ringing
- Veterans Day Parade
- Relay For Life
- Colorado River Clean Up
- Shop With A Cop
- Benefit Car Washes
- Annual Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt
Each Builders Club is led by dedicated Advisors that act as mentors to the young people in the Club. The Bullhead City Jr. High Club Advisor is Mike McClurg and the Fox Creek Jr. High Club Advisor is Cory Nicklin. If you would like more information on how to become involved or get your Jr. High student involved with Builders Club you can e-mail the Club advisors below.
